The Sigma SSB-LY-S225W is a two piece sound system for a television. A black bar sits in front of the screen and a separate subwoofer cabinet connects to it by cable, with 160 watts of power between them.

Sound can reach it over HDMI or optical from the TV, or over Bluetooth from a phone. An FM tuner and a USB port are also on board, so the bar plays music on its own.

• Bass you can feel across the room. The system is rated at 160 watts, and the low notes come from the subwoofer cabinet rather than the bar itself.
• One cable from the TV and you are done. HDMI and optical inputs are both there, so you can use whichever socket your television has free.
• Play from your phone without wires. Bluetooth is built in, so music from a phone or tablet runs through the bar and the subwoofer.
• Music with the TV off. Sigma lists FM and USB among the sources, so the bar works as a radio or plays files from a memory stick.
• Controls sit on the bar itself. Play, Source, Next/V+ and Prev/V- are on the right end panel next to the USB port.

The bar is finished in black with a perforated grille across the front and a red readout showing through it. The subwoofer has a textured black finish with a port on the front face.
